Bay Point, formerly West Pittsburg, is a census-designated place in Contra Costa County, California of approximately 25,000 residents, located an hour east of San Francisco, near Pittsburg and Antioch. Complaints about prostitution from residents and businesses, as well as reports of the homicide of prostituted women, have encouraged the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office to adopt new strategies that target sex buyers in addition to those sold for sex. CCSO officers have conducted a handful of street-level reverse sting operations to arrest sex buyers. The names and identities of the offenders are not typically released to the public.
