Washington County is a county of about 53,000 residents located in northeastern Oklahoma. Its county seat is Bartlesville. At least one sex buyer arrest has occurred in the county, along with identity disclosure and employment loss.

In March 2023, a Washington County detention officer fired for “an inappropriate conversation” with a female inmate was arrested and charged with “soliciting an act of lewdness,” according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. The District Attorney charged the man with one count of “engaging in prostitution,” a misdemeanor. Court records stated that the former detention officer had induced “an adult female to engage an act of lewdness on herself in the manner of masturbation, at which time the Defendant was a detention officer and [the woman] was an inmate in the Washington County Jail.” According to a statement, the man had been dismissed from duty the previous week after an internal investigation revealed he had an “inappropriate conversation” with an inmate at the detention center.
