Sonora, Kentucky is a community with a population of less than 600 individuals, and is located within Hardin County near Interstate 65. The town itself is only about 1.4 square miles wide, and is included in the Elizabethtown, Kentucky Metropolitan Area. Over the years, Elizabethtown and surrounding areas have had numerous cases of solicitation and prostitution, but Sonora has not been the center of this activity. This small city made local headlines in July 2020, when three individuals were arrested by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office in Sonora, and charged with prostitution-related offenses. According to reports, the individuals were arrested at a travel center in Sonora where they were caught engaging in sex acts in a truck. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the three had made plans to meet at the truck stop to trade sex for money. Along with the prostitution-related charges, two of the three also faced drug charges for possession of heroin. News reports pertaining to the event contained information about the offenders, including their names, ages, and hometowns.
