Pantego is a small town located in Tarrant County, Texas in the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area, and has a population of roughly 2,500 residents. Brothel-based prostitution was identified as a problem in the city in the 1990s, if not before, and police responses have included at least one attempt to combat demand. In October, 1998 the Pantego Police Department investigated and then conducted a raid of a tanning salon that was providing a “storefront” cover for a brothel. After the staff were arrested, police replaced a glass door that was broken during the raid and posed as the owners in a reverse sting. Over a period of about four hours, six men arrived seeking to buy sex and were arrested. Their names were not immediately made available to the public.
