Jackson Center is a village in western Ohio of approximately 1,000 residents, located in Shelby County about 50 miles north of Springfield. Prostitution and sex trafficking have not been well documented in the village, but there have been reports of this activity in the larger county area, specifically in the nearby city of Sidney.

Identity disclosure and employment loss are consequences of sex buying that have occurred in the village. For example, in August 2011, a prostitution sting conducted by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the arrest of two men in Lima. Both men were charged with solicitation for prostitution and had their identifying information released to the press. One of the men arrested was a local girls basketball coach in Jackson Center, a position he had held for 17 years. Following his arrest, the Jackson Center School Board accepted his resignation from his coaching position. He was also the head of maintenance and was put on administrative leave during the investigation.
