Gibson City is within Ford County, Illinois, and has a population of approximately 3,500.  It is located about 35 miles east of Bloomington, and about 30 miles north of Champaign. Prostitution activity has been documented in the city and surrounding areas. This activity and the problems and ancillary crimes it generates results in complaints to law enforcement agencies, and the city has passed ordinances to address the issue. Consumer level demand provides the revenue stream for all prostitution and sex trafficking, and has been included by local law enforcement agencies in their strategies for prevention and response.  A law enforcement respondent to the 2021 National Assessment Survey reported that demand reduction tactics have been used in Gibson City, but sparingly, with just one street-level reverse sting in the past 23 years), a a SOAP order for the arrested buyers.
