Assumption is a city in central Illinois (within Christian County) that has a population of about 1,200. Consumer level demand provides the revenue stream for all prostitution and sex trafficking, and has been targeted by local agencies.  A law enforcement respondent to the 2021 National Assessment Survey reported that demand reduction tactics have been used in Assumption, but sparingly, with community service being required for arrested buyers.
