Englewood is located in the westernmost part of Colorado, and has a population of approximately 30,000. The Englewood Police Department began using reverse stings as a means of reducing demand for prostitution in 1985. While street level sting operations are still used, most of the stings are now taking place as web-based operations. In May of 2011, 56 men were arrested for soliciting a prostituted woman, using a decoy online ad placed by the Englewood Police that ran for 7 days in an “adult entertainment” magazine. Soliciting a prostituted person is a class 3 misdemeanor in Colorado.
