Brown County is a county of about 16,000 residents in southern Indiana, roughly 60 miles south of Indianapolis. The county seat is Nashville. At least one web-based reverse sting has been conducted in the county.
In April 2023, eight men were arrested on child solicitation charges in law enforcement operations in Brown and Johnson counties. The operation targeted “those that would solicit minors and then go forward with those acts.” A detective in Brown County said those arrested had shown up at a designated meeting location prepared to sexually abuse minors. According to the Brown County Sheriff’s Department, eight men were arrested in Brown County as a result of the operation. The men were charged with Level 5 felony child solicitation, and one of the arrestees was a convicted sex offender. In addition, one man was charged with Level 6 felony possession of methamphetamine. The men’s names and identities were released to the press.
