Jeffersontown is a home rule-class city of about 29,000 residents in Jefferson County, Kentucky. It is a major suburb just southeast of Louisville. Prostitution and related drug use have been documented in the area. For example, in 2012 anonymous tips and an investigation revealed prostitution was occurring at a local massage business.

At least one sex buyer arrest has occurred in the city. In March 2023, a man was arrested in Jeffersontown after reportedly driving there planning to pay to sexually abuse a 14-year-old he met online. This was supposedly not the first time he had done so. According to the arrest citation, the man attempted to “engage in a commercial sex act for money” with a minor on more than one occasion. In February, the man had attempted to coerce a 12-year-old into commercial sexual abuse. Documents showed he attempted to coerce the child again in March. Jeffersontown Police said they turned on their “emergency equipment” to stop the man and he took off, crashing into a police vehicle and causing damage worth $1,000. He then got out of his car and ran into traffic on Taylorsville Road. He ran toward the tracks and was stopped by a moving train, but continued to actively resist arrest. He was charged with attempted human trafficking, use of a minor in a sexual performance, evading police by motor vehicle, evading police on foot, assault of a police officer, wanton endangerment, and criminal mischief, all of which are felonies. His identity was released to the press.
