Brenham is a city in east-central Texas with a population of about 18,000, and is the county seat of Washington County. Prostitution and child sex trafficking have been documented in the city, resulting in complaints to law enforcement from residents. For example, in July 2019, a Brenham woman arrested the previous month on Child Prostitution charges was federally indicted on three counts of sex trafficking of a minor. She was charged with recruiting, harboring, and soliciting three victims under the age of 18 for commercial sex acts. She was accused of benefitting financially from her involvement in the sex trafficking.

At least on sex buyer arrest has occurred in the city. In September 2018, two Brenham residents were charged with prostitution after their arrests at a local park. Police responded to a complaint about suspicious activity at the park, and upon arrival, they arrested one man and one woman. The woman was also charged with Disorderly Conduct – Obscene Language and Retaliation or Obstruction. Both were taken to the Washington County Jail, and their names were released to the press.
