Rubidoux was a census-designated place and unincorporated community of approximately 34,000 residents located in Riverside County, California, until July 1, 2011, when it became a neighborhood of the newly formed city of Jurupa Valley. Local problems involving commercial sex include child sex trafficking and the serial homicide of prostituted women. Among the responses to problems stemming from the local commercial sex market are those targeting the sex buyers who drive the market. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has conducted at least three street-level reverse stings in Rubidoux since 2006. The operations employed undercover female deputies, who posed as prostituted women along major roads and thoroughfares known for commercial sex activity. The identities of those arrested were not released to the public.
