Wicomico County is located in the southeastern part of Maryland, on the Delmarva Peninsula. Its population is roughly 100,000 and the county seat is Salisbury.  Efforts to address local prostitution and sex trafficking problems have included tactics to combat demand.  For example, in June, 2017, complaints from citizens and business owners in Wicomico County led to a Maryland State Police operation on that resulted in multiple arrests for prostitution solicitation.  Troopers assigned to the Salisbury Barrack planned, coordinated and conducted a prostitution/solicitation sting in the Wicomico County area. Assisting with the operation were State Police criminal investigators from the Criminal Enforcement Division and the Gang Enforcement Unit. The identities of the none men were included in news reports. Each was charged with solicitation for prostitution and taken to the Wicomico County Central Booking Center for processing and an initial appearance before a court commissioner.
