Webster Parish is located in the northwestern section of Louisiana. The seat of the parish is Minden. Prostitution has been documented in the parish, generating complaints to law enforcement agencies, and child sex trafficking has also occurred locally. For example, in September 2010, a Webster Parish man pleaded guilty to acting as a pimp for two juvenile runaways who answered an on-line ad for sexual services. The resident of Minden pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Atlanta to transporting minors across state lines for purposes of prostitution. Federal prosecutors said the man had posted internet ads for sexual services and then acted as the girls’ pimp after he met them.
To combat prostitution and sex trafficking in the area, local law enforcement agencies have targeted consumer-level demand for commercial sex, on at least one occasion. In May, 2016 Police in Minden arrested two men for soliciting for prostitution, and disclosed their identities in news releases.
