South Beloit is a city of under 8,000 residents in northern Illinois, located in Winnebago County on the border with Wisconsin. It is part of the Rockford metropolitan area, but is also a suburban extension of Beloit, Wisconsin, which is directly along the city’s northern border. Prostitution and drug use have been documented in the city.

At least one reverse sting has been conducted in the city. In September 2021, South Beloit Police announced the arrest of six people who were charged after a prostitution sting. Three men were arrested for soliciting prostitution and three women were arrested for prostitution. Their identities were disclosed to the public. Police said they conducted the sting in response to an increased level of prostitution and related criminal activity in the area.
