Siskiyou County is a located in the northernmost part of California, in the Shasta Cascade region along the Oregon border, and has a population of approximately 44,000. On at least one occasion, local law enforcement have targeted underlying demand for commercial sex. In February 2011, in response to community complaints, the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department conducted a web-based reverse sting which resulted in five arrests of sex buyers. The men’s names and mugshots were publicized in press.
