Seaside is a city situated along the Pacific coast of Northwest Oregon.  It has approximately 7,200 residents, lies within Clatsop County, between Cannon Beach and Astoria. Prostitution and sex trafficking activity have been well-documented in the region. This activity and the problems and ancillary crimes it generates has resulted in complaints to law enforcement agencies.

In effort to reduce the demand for commercial sex in the area, the Seaside Police Department has reported arresting sex buyers on at least one occasion. In May 2018, a Seaside man was arrested after allegedly propositioning a woman for sex and then assaulting her. The man allegedly grabbed the woman by her shoulder in an attempt to threaten her into engaging in sex acts with him, pushed her down a hill, and continued assaulting her. Seaside police arrested the offender and later charged him with second-degree kidnapping, fourth-degree assault, patronizing a prostitute, menacing, and harassment.
