Seabrook is a city of roughly 14,000 residents in eastern Texas, located in Harris County, TX. Prostitution and sex trafficking activity has been well-documented in the city and greater county area. This activity and its ancillary crimes has resulted in complaints to local law enforcement from residents and businesses. Cases of targeted violence, homicide, and rape of prostituted persons have been documented to occur as a result of commercial sex activity in area. Among the more serious crimes associated with the local commercial sex market is child sex trafficking.
In effort to reduce demand for commercial sex, the Seabrook Police Department has conducted at least one reverse sting operation, targeting sex buyers. For example, in 2020, a 61-year-old Seabrook man and long-time Deer Park ISD educator was arrested after he allegedly attempted to solicit oral sex from a prostituted woman. Although the Seabrook Police Department did not release further details on the arrest, his arrest was believed to be part of a multi-agency sting operation in the Houston metropolitan area. According to reports, the arrested sex buyer had been with Deer Park ISD since 1981 and was choir director for Deer Park High School for nearly 40 years. He also served as the school district’s Executive Director of Fine Arts and the Music Director for the Deer Park United Methodist Church.
As a result of his arrest, the former educator was immediately placed on administrative leave. He was arrested and charged with prostitution, a Class-B misdemeanor that carries a punishment range of up to 6 months in jail and up to a $2000 fine, per court documents. The offender’s identity, image, age, and charges were included in reports by local media outlets.
