Rushville is a small city of about 2,000 residents and is the county seat of Schuyler County, located in western Illinois approximately 60 miles northwest of Springfield. Prostitution and sex trafficking have not been well-documented problems in the city, but demand-reduction tactics have been used on at least on occasion.

Employment loss is a consequence of sex buying that has occurred in the city. In November 2019, a man who was arrested in Macomb on charges of solicitation of a sexual act and patronizing a prostitute was identified as the varsity girl’s basketball coach at Rushville-Industry High School. After the arrest, the Superintendent of Schuyler-Industry Schools said the man was no longer employed in the district.
