Palo Alto it is a city with a population of approximately 67,000, situated in the San Francisco Bay Area about midway between San Francisco and San Jose The Palo Alto Police Department regularly fields complaints about prostitution from members of the community, and they have conducted prostitution operations in response. Since at least 1989, PAPD officers have conducted reverse stings targeting sex buyers. Operations have sent female law enforcement officers undercover as decoys stationed in areas of reported prostitution activity, and intercept individuals who solicit them for commercial sex acts. Following recent reversals, the names of arrestees have been publicized in press.
