Ouachita Parish has a population of just over 159,000 residents, and is located in northern Louisiana. In addition to city-level efforts in the parish’s largest communities (Monroe and West Monroe), the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office occasionally conducts anti-prostitution operations in the area. Complaints from the residents and businesses within the area have played a role in police prostitution operations.  These initiatives have included both street-level and web-based reverse stings targeting sex buyers.  Once arrested, both sex buyers and prostituted persons may have their identities disclosed to the public.  For example, in December 2017 four men were arrested after responding to online ads and meeting them at a Motel 6 in West Monroe.  The men were accused of contacting a woman and offering her money, ranging from $50 to $75 dollars, for sex.  The identities of those arrested were released to news outlets. Ouachita Parish Sheriff Deputies said at the time that the investigation would continue.  OPSO deputies have occasionally placed hidden cameras in hotels to gather evidence that can be used to arrest and prosecute both sex buyers and those who are sexually exploited.
