Lynbrook is a village in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, New York, on the South Shore of Long Island. Its population is about 20,000 residents. Prostitution has been documented in the village, and has consistently been a problem at one specific motel. For example, in June 2013, two women were arrested for prostitution at a Lynbrook motel during a sting operation after offering to engage in sexual conduct with undercover Nassau County detectives for an undisclosed amount of cash.
It is unclear if any proactive efforts have been made to arrest sex buyers in addition to prostituted women through reverse sting operations, but at least one sex buyer arrest has occurred in the village. In February 2013, a man was arrested and charged with “patronizing a prostitute” at a Lynbrook motel on Freer Street. A woman was also arrested and charged with prostitution at the same hotel. No details of the operation were released, but the sex buyer was identified in press.
