Loris is a small city of approximately 2,000 residents, located in Horry County, South Carolina. In an effort to curtail demand for commercial sex, the Loris Police Department has conducted at least four street-level reverse stings. In August 2007, one reverse sting resulted in the arrest of four johns. Driven by community complaints, Loris and Horry County police sent two female officers undercover to the Broad Street area to act as decoys. When johns attempted to solicit sex from the women, they were quickly arrested. Police released the men’s names and other identifying information to the local media.
