Lebanon is a city of approximately 13,700 residents, located along the Vermont border in Grafton County, New Hampshire near Hanover and Canaan. Prostitution and sex trafficking are documented problems in the city and throughout the region, and among the responses are those targeting consumer level demand for commercial sex.  For example, in June, 2016, Lebanon Police Department officers conducted a sting targeting individuals attempting to solicit commercial sex online. Officers reportedly “posted and responded to ads offering or seeking prostitution on websites” known for prostitution solicitation. Nine attempted sex buyers were arrested as a result of the investigation, as were five people offering sex for money. The identities of those arrested were publicized by select media outlets.
