Glenwood is a small city of less than 3,000 residents, located in central Minnesota’s Pope County. In their efforts to reduce prostitution activity, local law enforcement have conducted at least one investigation to identify and arrest sex buyers.

In August 2015, officers with the Pope County Sheriff’s Office, Glenwood and Starbuck Police Departments, and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension’s Internet Crimes Against Children and West Central Minnesota Drug and Violent Crime Task Forces conducted a reverse sting using web advertisements. Undercover officers posed as women offering prostitution acts online, and arranged to meet the individuals who responded in Glenwood. Five sex buyers were arrested as a result; their identities were publicized in a PCSO news release. In the statement, the PCSO commented that “this is a statewide issue and local law enforcement is attempting to address it in our local communities.”
