Fort Lee is a census-designated place with a population of just under 10,000, as of the 2020 census – nearly triple the size of the 2010 census count. Fort Lee is within Prince George County, Virginia, and is the site of a major United States Army post. Consumer level demand provides the revenue stream for all prostitution and sex trafficking, and demand reduction tactics have been employed in Fort Lee. For example, in May, 2022, a drill sergeant at Fort Lee  was fired from his position after being arrested on felony charges of soliciting prostitution with a minor as part of a police sting operation. The man was assigned to Alpha Company, 832nd Ordnance Battalion, and was tasked with training new soldiers coming into the Army, in addition to his drill sergeant duties. The man, who was assigned to Fort Lee in 2020, was fired after his arrest, according to a spokesperson for the installation. He was charged but has not been convicted of any crime. The arrest came as part of a weeks-long operation by local authorities in Chesterfield County, Virginia, just south of the capital, Richmond. The man was one of 16 people caught by law enforcement in a series of sting operations over the prior month.  The suspects converged at a location where they thought they were meeting with a minor for paid sex, but it was a trap set by authorities.
