Flower Mound is an incorporated town of about 77,000 residents located northwest of Dallas in Denton and Tarrant counties, Texas.  Prostitution activity has been well-documented within the city and throughout those counties for decades, and the problems and ancillary crimes it generates results in complaints to law enforcement agencies from residents and businesses. Among the more serious crimes associated with the local commercial sex market is sex trafficking.

Consumer level demand provides the revenue stream for all prostitution and sex trafficking, and has therefore been targeted by local law enforcement agencies as a strategy for prevention and response. Demand reduction tactics used in the town include the public disclosure of sex buyer identities and employment loss. For example, in January, 2023, a football coach for Marcus High School in Flower Mound resigned from his position after he was arrested the prior week, the Lewisville Independent School District (ISD) confirmed to the Dallas Morning News. The man was among the 46 sex buyers — a group that included a youth pastor and and an operations director of a large hospital network — that were arrested in an undercover prostitution sting in Frisco and Southlake. The men faced charges of solicitation of prostitution, a felony in Texas punishable with up two years in prison and a $10,000 fine. The men had arranged online to meet at the hotels with the intent to pay for sex. The coach was placed on administrative leave when the district became aware of his arrest and subsequently, the man submitted his resignation to the district.  The identity of the former coach was publicly disclosed.
