Fern Park is a census-designated place with a population of approximately 8,300. Fern Park is located in Florida, 10 miles north of Orlando. Indoor prostitution is a well-known problem in the city. For example, in 1997, three spas were raided, and 23 people indicted for a range of crimes related to prostitution, including money laundering. The spas were little more than a front for a prostitution ring. In 2007, two women were arrested for prostitution in a Fern Park hotel. Reverse stings have occurred here since 1988, when undercover officers posing as prostituted women arrested 11 sex buyers. Police said that men approached the decoys an average of every six minutes and were even lined up waiting at some points in the reverse sting.
