Derry is a city of about 34,000 residents located in southeastern New Hampshire, about halfway between the Massachusetts border and Manchester along the Route 93 corridor. While the city is not known to have engaged in a proactive reverse sting, the Derry Police Department has conducted a long-term investigation of a man who purchased access to sexually abuse teenage girls, and revealed his identity to news outlets.  The local man was charged with one count of aggravated felonious sexual assault, a class A felony; one count of attempted aggravated felonious sexual assault, a class B felony; one count of felonious sexual assault, a class B felony; and four counts of prostitution, a class B felony; and one count of indecent exposure, a misdemeanor.  The charges were the result of an investigation that began in October 2013. The DPD received reports alleging underage girls had used drugs and alcohol at the man’s residence, and that he had solicited underage girls to perform sexual acts with him for money. Police said the assaults happened during the summer of 2013, when the victims were 12- and 13-years-old. In May 2015, the New Hampshire Union-Leader announced the man had pled guilty to sexual assault charges to avoid trial and “resolve his 22 charges, which include aggravated felonious sexual assault and prostitution.” The details of the plea agreement were not made public.
