Copiague is a hamlet of approximately 23,000 residents located within the city of Babylon in Suffolk County, New York. Like the neighboring communities of Amityville and Lindenhurst, Copiague has reported problems related to prostitution and has conducted both indoor and street-level stings for several decades.

In the late 1980s, Copiague was among the first handful of communities targeted for aggressive, large-scale anti-prostitution details by the Suffolk County Police Department. SCPD officers conducted several street-level reverse stings in the area through the early 1990s; it is unclear if officers still conduct such investigations regularly. If so, details of the operations are generally not released to the public.
