Warrick County, Indiana has a population of approximately 63,000 and its county seat is the city of Boonville. Prostitution activity has been well-documented within the county, and the problems and ancillary crimes it generates results in complaints to law enforcement agencies. Consumer level demand provides the revenue stream for all prostitution and sex trafficking, and has therefore been targeted by local law enforcement agencies. Demand reduction tactics used within the county include the arrest of sex buyers and the public disclosure of their identities. For example, in October, 2016, the Warrick County Sheriff’s Office released information on the arrest of a man as a result of an investigation into allegations that he had solicited a juvenile for sexual acts and offered to pay for those acts. He directed the juvenile to go to a given location and agreed to pay for specific sex acts. He also requested that the juvenile engage in live video chat with him in exchange for money.   Detectives from the sheriff’s office, along with detectives from the Indiana State Police, Evansville Police Department and the FBI Task Force executed a search warrant at his home. The suspect was preliminarily charged with promoting prostitution of a minor, a level 4 felony, promoting prostitution, a level 5 felony, and patronizing a prostitute, a class A misdemeanor. If convicted on all counts, the man could face up to 19 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections. The Warrick County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from Indiana State Police, Evansville Police and the FBI Task Force.
