Sea Isle City is a city of about 2,000 residents in Cape May County, New Jersey, and is part of the Ocean City Metropolitan Statistical Area. Prostitution and sex trafficking offenses have been well documented for decades throughout Cape May County, including within Sea Isle City. Demand reduction tactics have been employed in the city.  Although there have been no know reverse sting operations, sex buyers have been arrested and their identities disclosed as the result of investigating allegations of offenses against victims of sexual exploitation. For example, in November, 2009, Sea Isle City police and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office arrested a 25-year-old Pennsylvania man in connection with an Internet prostitution scam. City police accused the Sea Isle City resident of soliciting paid sex on the Internet on websites such as Craigslist. Police said the man would arrange to meet the victim, and once money was exchanged, he would flee the area. In August, 2021, a man was charged with trying to persuade an underage girl to go back to his house for sex in exchange for buying her alcohol in Sea Isle City. Police say the victim was able to pull herself free, and then reported the offense to police. Investigators believed the man may have done this before, and are looking for other potential victims. The Cape May County prosecutor said the man was charged with luring, endangering the welfare of children, and simple assault.
