Jackson Township (alternately referred to as Jackson) is a community of approximately 59,000 residents, located near Freehold Township and Asbury Park in Ocean County, New Jersey.

Although local law enforcement do not appear to have conducted traditional “reverse” stings in the township, the Jackson Township Police Department has conducted an anti-prostitution investigation in September 2013 that resulted in multiple sex buyer arrests.

After seeing advertisements offering prostitution at a local residence on Craigslist, Jackson Police installed surveillance at the location and witnessed several individuals entering and exiting the home. As they left, two male subjects were stopped by officers and later placed under arrest. Both were charged with soliciting prostitution. A third individual was also arrested and charged with promoting prostitution.

According to The Asbury Park Press, following the investigation members of the media “asked the Jackson Police Department for photos of the suspects, but they refused. [Although] state law allows authorities discretion in releasing suspect photos, they often refuse to do so, saying they are prohibited by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.”
