Bell is a city of approximately 33,000 residents, located in the southeastern suburbs of Los Angeles, located in Los Angeles County, CA. To our knowledge, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has conducted at least one street-level reverse sting in the city. The operation, conducted in December of 1991, was undertaken by the LASD in response to complaints from owners of local motels and other businesses, as well as residents who alleged that prostituted women could be seen “conduct[ing] business in cars parked in front of family homes.” Twenty-nine male sex buyers were arrested as a result of the sting; it is unclear whether their identities were made public.
